Taylor Swift unveils music video for 'Lover' during Lover's Lounge livestream

Taylor Swift is the gift that keeps on giving.

Ahead of the release of her highly anticipated album Lover at midnight tonight (August 23), Taylor just held a #LoversLounge livestream for her fans worldwide where she unveiled the music video for the title track and spoke in detail about this new era.

Just last week, Taylor released the title track from her album which received rave reviews from her fans. Now, the official music video has just been released and it’s every bit as magical as the song itself.

The visual begins with a little girl opening a snow globe on Christmas day, which zooms in to a big house with Taylor and her on screen lover surrounded by pretty lights. During the track, Taylor declares her love for her partner in various rooms around the house and no matter the room or the situation, her love continues to grow. The dreamy visual perfectly encapsulates the beautiful lyrics of the song and has the ultimate fairytale ending.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the video, Taylor said during the #LoversLounge livestream: “This whole video concept came from a lyric from a song on 1989 called ‘You Are In Love’, the line ‘You two are dancing in a snow globe round and round.’”

In addition to unveiling the music video for ‘Lover’, during the livestream Taylor also dropped her new merchandise collaboration with Stella McCartney. Available for 24 hours only, the collection includes a pastel tie dye hoodie and t-shirts featuring some of Taylor’s song lyrics.

Stella joined Taylor during the livestream to speak about the collection. She said: “I was inspired by you and the songs and the title ‘Lover’ is very inspiring. You had such a specific kind of mood board and it really reminded me of being on the road with my family, and this summer of love. Other highlights of the livestream include Taylor giving a performance of ‘The Archer’, taking part in a fan Q&A, and speaking about the packaging for the deluxe edition of her album. As available on her webstore, there are four deluxe journal editions of Lover which include a unique set of Taylor’s journal entries.

Before reading out some excerpts, Taylor said: “The album packaging is more exciting than anything we’ve done this year. I think in the 13th year of my career I wanted to do something retrospective and nostalgia so I got out my old journals.”
